In the last few months, I have been learning to live life with acceptance. As I have grown older, more and more difficulties, heartache, and disappointments have come to pass, leading to more and more suffering. When I was younger, there used to be one thing at a time that was hurting me and I used to be able to overcome it slowly. But now, a multitude of contrasting things happen at once and I have to deal with them together, while I am reeling from the hurt of the past. And I can't just simply resort to my bed for however long I want because I have to work and still interact with people. No one is going to comfort me anymore. Adulthood is tough.

I had become so overwhelmed and distraught that it was affecting my health. I realized that the way I had been handling pain was now outdated. Life may become even tougher and more complicated in the future and I can't afford to break apart at every turn. So, what do I do? How do I think? How do I make myself stronger so I can be happier and healthier?

I stumbled upon a video that talked about Marcus Aurelius's philosophy and that started my learning of how to be more calm and accepting of the truths of life. My cousins also made me watch the anime Demon Slayer and luckily it turned out to be exactly what I needed. This is one truth of life: she will hurt you but also show you the ways to get through that hurt.

I started to accept my reality. I started to let go of control. How can I expect life to turn out to be how I imagine it to be? It will be what it will be. I have barely any control over what happens to me. But, that is life. It is completely up to me how I approach what happens to me. It is up to me whether I give up or carry on. Things will be as they are. What was, was. What is, is. What will be, will be. I cannot control my life.

It was this acceptance that much of my life is not in my hands and trying to control it will only cause me more pain that made it easier for me to go through what I had to go through. The person I choose to be in every situation is entirely up to me though. So, instead of trying to play God in my own life, I decided to embrace what my life chooses to give me and find the best way to flow with it.

So, with that, I am here with acceptance affirmations which will hopefully help you learn the way to make yourself more resilient. Here you go:
