It has been a few years since I graduated from my teenage. I turned 24 this April but it doesn't take me long to transport myself back to that time and remember how I was.

When you're a teen, everything is so... maximized. Pain, guilt, fear, uncertainty, excitement, elation, worry, anger, shame, and every other feeling. And then, the whole world underestimates you and your problems.

To everyone else, teenagers are silly and "in a phase". Well, sure, but everyone is in a phase, just that the teen phase is categorized with some amount of insensitivity and disapproval, even though the people who say it went through it as well.

I know all too well how I felt when what I felt was so easily brushed away as hormones and that I had a lot to learn and experience. It all may have been true but to me, it wasn't, because I wasn't older yet. I was a young person thrown all too suddenly into the complex realization of the truth of the world and being a human.

It's difficult to figure out all that's happening within and around you and all that you're supposed to know now.

So, I hope I've been clear that teenage is a difficult phase for many. It's so glamorized by the media, so insecure among peers, and so invalidated by wiser people. Today I want to offer the support I didn't have in my teens.
