You can find the light again...

Before I start this post, I want to make sure I let you know that what you are going through is something that is real, valid, really painful, and you are not at all just asking for attention or being too needy. Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses and it is good that it is being talked about but on the flip side, it can also be underestimated when someone actually has to go through it.

The word depression is often used for mere sadness or as a joke or to demean someone's experience, and here on this blog, for these few minutes that you're here, I want to be there for you because it is NOT easy to be where you are.

I have been through it, seen both the mild (and still extremely difficult) and severe sides of it. Just because it is common doesn't mean that it is not overwhelming, all-encompassing, consuming, and SO hard to get through and come out of. We need all the help we can because this illness makes it very difficult for us to do everything ourselves.

With affirmations for depression, I want to help you with the words you need to tell yourself when you think all those dark, false thoughts about yourself. You are NOT too much. You are NOT too dramatic. You are NOT unworthy. You WILL get through this. You CAN be happy. Depression saps the air and light out of our lives and it feels like that is how we will be forever. I know how that feels and I want to tell you that there is a way out of it. Just hold on, just hold tight. You can make it.

With this thought, here are depression affirmations that will comfort and uplift you. You can write these affirmations and say them to yourself whenever you want. You can learn more about practicing affirmations here.
