Welcome to our post with fun and useful self-care ideas. Self-care for us is like sunlight for plants. It's essential for our health and happiness. But, it is so often overlooked and underestimated.

Self-care is about nourishing your soul. We are so busy with chores, thoughts, worries, next steps, and responsibilities that we don't really take out time to care for ourselves.

How many of us can say that one hour of our day is for nourishing our minds? Not many. Not me either.

I know it's not realistic for all of us to give one hour to self-care but let's try to give the most we can. With the self-care ideas I'll be sharing now, I hope that you'll find things that you would love to do.

It s important to know self-care because it's all okay when our days are going well or at least feel under control. But when the times are turbulent, our emotions are fragile, we need something to rely on.

Self-care helps us with support and comfort. It gives us the strength to pick up when we stumble and deal with the bad days. We can't always control how we feel but we can choose how we treat ourselves.

And with that, here are your self-care ideas to nourish your body, mind, and soul:

Self-Care Ideas

  1. Take our 30-day Self-Care Challenge in the Gratitude app.
  2. Take a long, soothing bath with scented candles and soft music. Let go of any tasks. Simply enjoy your time.
  3. Go for a mindful walk in nature alone. If possible, don't take your phone. Instead of looking down, look up and breathe in the beautiful view that you see. Nature is the epitome of taking things slow and still being perfect.
  4. Write in a journal or start a gratitude practice. Express your thoughts and emotions freely. You can also try making a list of little things you are grateful for in your life.
  5. Try a new hobby or revisit an old one. Is there something you liked to do or are interested in trying out? Give yourself the space to explore new things for no reason except that you want to.
  6. Meditate for a few minutes or chant a mantra repeatedly in a quiet area.
  7. Listen to music that helps you feel calm or understood. For me, it's mostly 'folklore' and 'evermore' by Taylor Swift, and 'five seconds flat' by Lizzy McAlpine.
  8. Practice yoga or stretching exercises. The feeling when your muscles relax is sooo good! It's like your whole body is feeling thankful and rejuvenated.
  9. Cook a healthy and delicious meal for yourself. This is one of my favorite quick self-care activities. Food has become a friend to me as I am getting older and the one thing that I can control even in desperate times.
  10. Read a light-hearted or fun book that can take you on a journey you'll enjoy. I loved reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini for some crying release and If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon to feel excitement in boring times.
  11. Watch a movie/show that makes you laugh or brings you joy. Little Women by Greta Gerwig is a classic for me. And, nothing beats The Office. Also, I love to watch animated movies. They're so full of happiness!
  12. Volunteer for a cause that aligns with your values. Sometimes all you need is to help someone else. I always feel really happy when I feed a hungry animal.
